Whatever you do, don't turn around...

Going through mountain of photos taken from the AE86 Festival 2013 with Initial D at Okayama International Circuit, we found this little gem. An Initial D fan who is into making doll brought a life-size Takumi to the event. I... don't know about you, those dolls are pretty creepy... The little girl doesn't seem to mind though!

14th Round: AE86 Festival 2013 with Initial D

The AE86 Festival 2013 with Initial D was successfully held at Okayama International Circuit yesterday (2013.9.22) Many fans attended the event, including our very own G+ page admin (... target='_blank'>http://fb.me/Rukawa701) There will be more images and videos later on when he returns from Japan. Don't miss it!

Takumi Fujiwara's voice actor Shinichiro Miki was the special guest for the event, as he drove the Fujiwara Tofu Shop AE86 in the race with other AE86 enthusiasts. There were at least 300 AE86's that attended the event!! Check out the individual images link below!

Unfortunately, the Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya didn't make it out to this event. It would be pretty awesome if he did. Nonetheless, it was a very successful event, for both car enthusiasts and Initial D fans.

The infamous oil incident reenacted in real life

When Project.D challenged the Lan Evo team on Mt. Tsuchisaka, Keisuke got into an accident during practice. Turns out the opponent was responsible for the accident. Of course, the would never admit it. It's downright dirty... of how far they would go to win. So it was so satisfying to watch what happened to them later on.

Initial D Manga Vol.48 Release Date?

According to our reliable source for Initial D news, the last (for real this time) Initial D manga volume 48 will be released on Wednesday, November 6th. We don't have any cover image for the final volume yet, but that... doesn't stop us from making one. (laugh)

The last volume will cover chapter 709~719. If that's all it includes, then the last volume will be the thinnest volume ever. Hopefully we will see some extra stuff at the end of it. I guess we'll find out in two months!

We'll keep you all posted!

Kamameshi Billboard

Who can forget that spot where Iketani first met his angel Mako? It was under the 峠の釜めし (Kamameshi) billboard. But did you know the billboard actually exist in real life? Bookmark this post if... you plan on visiting Gunma, Japan in the future. (smile)

峠の釜めし was founded in 1885. The first shop was opened in the Yokogawa station in the Annaka Matsuida town in Gunma Prefecture. They are described as the "most popular lunches of Japan." The billboard has been recently upgraded and it no longer looks the same. ( See here: http://goo.gl/TD4wJ6 )

It is a must-visit place for Initial D fans. Maybe you too will meet that special someone there. (wink)

AE86 vs FD3S Official Rematch?

The AE86 vs FD3S official rematch is probably one of the most anticipated battles. If you have read the last chapter of the manga, you would know that the author has no intention of showing this race. But that doesn't stop... the fans from speculating who would win.

First of all, how can you set up a race where they can race in a fair manner? They are good at what they are assigned to do. One is downhill and the other is uphill. I suppose the most fair way to settle it would be going to a course that neither Takumi and Keisuke has driven on before. Then the course must be exactly half downhill and half uphill.

With all the experiences gained from Project.D, who do you think would win in a match like that?

Iketani's Inferiority Complex

Many people don't understand why Iketani has such severe inferiority complex. Given the situation he was in, it's not hard to empathize with him. Does anyone remember how confident he was in the first few episodes from... Initial D First Stage prior to his crash?

He was so confident that he actually came off a little cocky. Of course, that was no longer the case when his junior Takumi stepped up on the big stage. Right there, Iketani already suffered a strike to his ego. But that's alright since Takumi is on his side, it helps Iketani to rebuild his confidence by continually improving himself.

Then, Mako appears and requested to race Takumi as her "final street race" before graduating from the streets. Iketani's inferiority complex comes back. He thinks someone like Mako won't be into a guy like him. Through mere coincidence, Iketani found out that Mako used to have a big crush on Ryousuke Takahashi, the No.1 superstar street racer in the Gunma area. His inferiority complex kicks into high gear. He instantly withdraw himself from the relationship before it even started. He couldn't help but compare himself to Ryousuke, and experience this immense sense of defeat.

Little did he know, Mako is just being honest with him. She didn't want to hold anything back from him. To her, Ryousuke was like an idol, like a star from movies. Every young girl usually have an idol or two like that they look up to. Iketani mistakes that as love and thinks that Mako will expect the same from him, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

In conclusion, self-pity destroyed an otherwise perfect couple between Mako and Iketani. Every time I watch this scene from Initial D, it serves as a counterexample of dealing with relationship. If you have someone in mind, don't be afraid to tell them what you think. Don't be like Iketani and regret it for the rest of your life.
